Dear Parents and Caregivers,
It was lovely to see everyone back at school last week. The children were full of stories about their holidays and eagerly chatted to each other about what they got up to. It was lovely to see them excited to see each other again.
Last week we began learning about the weather and wondered about ‘what families are’. We will continue learning about these topics during the term.
The word lists in your child’s sight word book were updated last week. Please encourage your child to read these words with you. Recognising these words instantly will help them to read their readers fluently. You may wish to make flash cards to play games like snap or memory.
Don’t forget our sharing topic about families starts this week. A note came home last week stating what day your child’s sharing is on.
On Wednesday we shared ‘Big Play’ with the children in Ms Coutt’s class. See the photos below.
I hope you have an enjoyable week.
Until next time,
Kylie
Dear Parents and Caregivers,
I hope you all had a refreshing break from school routines and enjoyed a safe school holidays.
We are looking forward to school beginning again on Monday morning and seeing the children’s smiling faces.
Sharing Topic Week 2
This term as a part of the history curriculum we are inquiring about families and are wondering about the question ‘Who am I in my family?’ As a part of this inquiry we will be investigating what families look like, including extended family. To support your child with their learning we are asking each student to bring in a printed photo on paper of 2 or 3 significant people in their extended family eg. grandma, grandpa, aunt, uncle, cousins or a family friend. The children will show these as part of sharing in Week 2, beginning Monday 23rd October. I will send home a note to let you know which day your child’s sharing is on. We will keep these photos at school. Please don’t send original photos as the children will be gluing and cutting the photos to make a simple poster later in the term.
Assembly Week 4
There has been a change to the assembly roster. We will now be hosting assembly this term in Week 4, Friday 10th November at 11.15am. Parents are most welcome to attend.
Hats
It is important that your child remembers to bring a hat to school each day. Now the weather is well into spring the children will play in the shade during lunch and recess if they don’t have a hat.
See you all on Monday,
Regards,
Kylie
